2024.09.12

Category: Workshop

Research Group: Organizer

Islamic Trust Studies Civil Dialog “Cross Stitch and Cross Talk: the Connectivity of Palestinian Embroidery” will be jointly held by the organizer of Islamic Trust Studies Project, the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa(ILCAA), and TUFS Field Science Commons(TUFiSCo).

Detail:
The“Civil Dialog”series of the Islamic Trust Studies aim to return the fruits of research interactively, in line with the goals of“Transformative Research Areas.” This event focuses on Palestinian embroidery, a traditional form of cross-stitch embroidery handed down from mother to daughter in Palestine for generations. In Palestine, the conflict has persisted since last October. This Civil Dialog event consists of two part: a talk session featuring two NGO members and a researcher discussing the current situation of Palestine and the roles of women’s handiwork worldwide; and an embroidery workshop where each participant will create an embroidered button with a Palestinian motif. Join us as we reflect on the current situation in Palestine and the broader world of craftsmanship through cross stitch and cross talk.
